Bento 04-20-2010

I've really been into the idea of bento [link] lately. I started collecting various bento boxes and accessories and figure I should use them and record my more successful attempts.

Here's a simple 2-layer bento I made last night.

Top container:
Cucumber slices
Lemon wedges
A veggie slaw made with cabbage, carrots and ponzu sauce
Cherry tomatoes
Steamed rice with black sesame seeds

Bottom container:
Tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet)
Sliced strawberries

I don't have any little bottles to hold the tonkatsu sauce that I can fit in the bento, so that's off to the side in a small, lidded container. I have to say that I am pretty happy with my first attempt making an attractive bento. Hopefully you'll be seeing more soon. I'd like to set a goal to do at least one a week. We'll see how that goes . . .

I'm entertaining the thought of doing a bento panel at Anime Banzai this year . . .
